Ally Johnston beaming about possible transfer to Celtic

The Canadian right-back, Ally Johnston was tonight asked about links with Celtic and could not hide his delight, according to one source. Freelance journalist, Peter Galindo revealed that the defender was beaming with delight when he was quizzed earlier on this evening whilst at the World Cup in Qatar.

Johnston is young, hungry and ambitious with a highly competitive nature, which The Celtic Star reported on previously. The 24-year-old CF Montreal player’s stock seems to be on the rise and Celtic could be moving quickly to tie things up after his wonderful display against the might of Belgium.

Galindo let all his followers on Twitter know that Johnston revealed he remains focused and determined to help Canada get though to the knockout rounds of the 2022 World Cup. Next up for the buzzbomb is ironically Josip Juranovic and Croatia, who it is highly expected will be leaving Parkhead subsequent to Alistair’s arrival.

Johnston is reported as saying:

“Look, to be linked with a club like Celtic is something that I think every footballer is excited by. I think it’s one of the most passionate fan bases in the world. It’s a club that even people who don’t follow football know who it is. So yeah, just getting linked with them – my phones been blowing up, literally broke my phone, actually.

” It’s probably time to upgrade from the iPhone 10. People have told me that for the last couple of years now. That Nearly pulled my phone out of commission halfway through the World Cup. So, look, I’m super excited to get linked to them. But right now, the focus is just solely on the national team.

“We’ve done a really good job of kind of blocking out the noise. Obviously, we’ve created some of our own noise about what we said to Croatia, apparently, but we’re pretty focussed on the task at hand, and personal things, club things, that will kind of get figured out once January hits. We’ve still got a lot more business to take care of here.”

About Author

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
