“Amazing” – The Word from Celtic on Season Ticket Renewals

REGULAR readers of The Celtic Star will be well aware that this site has been providing you with insightful and accurate updates on various matters concerning our club, most recently on how the season ticket renewals have been progressing.

The renewal deadline was on Tuesday at 5pm and at the weekend we told you that 46,000 supporters had renewed and that there were several thousand applications remaining to to be processed. That was NOT speculation, it was from the ‘Horse’s Mouth’ and was therefore 100% accurate.

With 17,000 supporters on the waiting list for tickets any season tickets that were not renewed will be quickly snapped up, thus ensuring that when full crowds are allowed back into the stadiums in Scotland, Celtic Park will have 60,000 supporters there cheering on the team towards Ten-in-a-Row.

We can confirm this morning that by 5pm on Tuesday just short of 50,000 supporters had renewed their season ticket and that the ticket office is now busy opening up the remaining tickets to those supporters on the Waiting List, where demand is much greater than supply.

When the noisy neighbours reached 30,000 then 40,000 renewals they were quick to boast about this on social media and there were plenty willing to speculate that Celtic’s renewals were slow and that somehow the advantage was about to swing towards Govan, due to the reluctance of the Celtic support to back our club.

We tried to counter that by providing you with accurate and up-to-date information and hopefully that had an impact and supporters did not listen to the uninformed doom-mongers.

Checking in with our source inside Celtic Park this morning we can tell you that the word coming out of Celtic Park on the renewal levels is “AMAZING” – “Amazing on the renewals, just short of 50,000.”

Remember every year, for various reasons, there are supporters who don’t or can’t renew and these tickets are then allocated to those on the waiting list, so this year is no different to any other in that regard.

And we also wanted to know about the ‘story’ that broke just as the deadline for renewals was reached, that Sky would be showing games from Celtic Park – including the opener against Hamilton on 2 August – and that the Virtual Season Ticket holders would accordingly NOT have access to these games.

So the bitter message was – now that you have renewed your season ticket – here’s the sting in the tail, Celtic have shafted you because you’ve paid to see a match that you can only view if you already have Sky. Bitter? Yes. Nonsense? Clearly? Hurting? Definitely!

You expect it from the MSM but why are Celtic sites jumping into this rubbish and reporting it just for clicks? “On the Sky thing, we’re right it’s definitely all home SPFL matches,” our Celtic source confirmed. Listen to that and not the rubbish you might see elsewhere.

Meanwhile if you are on the Renewal List – good luck!
