Ange Angling for January Shopping Spree

Ange Postecoglou has stated that he is keenly keeping an eye on the recruitment side of things at Celtic Park ahead of a January splurge. The Greek-Aussie is riding high at the moment after another few impressive results in his first season in charge of the Hoops. Even so, he insists the work never stops as he aims to elevate this current Celtic team even higher.

Everyday, in each aspect, he says that work is being done behind the scenes continually to make sure deals are concluded early. Speaking to Daily Record, he said: “We want to make sure we are well organised long before then, so we are going to identify targets and we will be talking to quite a few. But we are not negotiating or close to signing anyone at the moment.”

Ange also maintains that Celtic Park will be a more than attractive destination for prospective signings, adding: “There will be plenty of people putting their name forward because I think this is an attractive destination at the moment. There will be plenty of names. We are working towards then and we know what we need. We are just focused on being organised in January.”

Celtic have been linked with a raft of names of late, including two players whom Ange knows well from his time in Japanese football – Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate. The big question is: who is Ange looking at ahead of a potential move? One can only guess at this point however, it is apparent that work IS being done to conclude deals as soon as possible which is always a good sign.

One things for sure, if they turn out anything like Kyogo and Jota we’re sure to have the makings of a very exciting team to watch.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
