‘Armstrong’s a very talented boy,’ Brendan Rodgers

SPEAKING in the new edition of the Celtic View, manager Brendan Rodgers has given some insight into one of the new arrivals at Celtic this summer – young Armstrong Okoflex, who joined the Scottish Champions from Arsenal.

Armstrong arrived around a month or two ago but the formal announcement that he had indeed signed for Celtic was held back until the start of this month. While still not understanding that one, we do know that the talented 16 year old has put pen to a three year contract at Celtic and that he has over the summer impressed Brendan Rodgers.

Maybe he was just wanting to see what life at Celtic was like before committing to the deal and obviously this gave the Celtic management team the chance to see if they rated the player or not. The answer to that one is quite clearly they do like what they see and Armstrong is happy to develop his game at Lennoxtown.

“I’ve seen a lot of Armstrong and I can see that he’s a very talented boy,” Brendan said.

“The job for Armstrong, like it is for all really talented players, is making that transition from being a talent to being a top professional.

“He’s come here with a view of hopefully doing that. He’s at a club where he’s going to get an opportunity. You can see his qualities and his talents.

“It’s not easy, he’s only a 16-year-old boy moving up from London. But he’s adapted really well which is good to see and hopefully he’ll be able to play some games at some point soon.

“That will be another nice, exciting step for him.”
