Arsenal look to raid Celtic again as they open talks over Summer move for star

When you consider how long it took to agree a deal to sign Kieran Tierney last Summer, it might be a push to say Arsenal have a great relationship with Celtic, but they do know how to get a deal done.

In a way the current lockdown might be a good thing for Tierney as he looks to regain full fitness, and it sounds like Arsenal are looking to Celtic again as they try to rebuild their defence.

They’ve been especially weak in the centre where David Luiz never looked like the answer, and The Sun have indicated they are looking to sign Kristoffer Ajer this Summer.

The report states that Arsenal are at the front of the queue and have actually opened talks with Celtic, but there’s no indication of what the price tag might be at this point.

Tierney went for £25m so you have to think a similar amount would be fair, but it remains to be seen how badly the transfer market will be affected by this.

It would also be interesting to see how he gets on if he makes this move. His game could be perfect for Arsenal, he likes to get on the ball and build from the back, but there’s also plenty of mistakes in him that would need to be ironed out.

He does look uncomfortable when matched up with a physical striker and he’ll see a lot more of that down south, but you could also argue he will only improve if he faces that on a regular basis.

Celtic fans will say he needs longer to develop and at least one more year in Glasgow in a successful team who are also playing in Europe might be the best thing to help him, but that might depend on Ajer’s own state of mind.
