“As good as we’ve played this year,” Ange Postecoglou on Celtic’s Joy Night at Easter Road

Ange Postecoglou reaction to Celtic’s Easter Road victory: “I thought our first-half was as good as we’ve played this year, especially away from home against a good team”…

Ange Postecoglou was delighted speaking to Celtic TV after the game against Hibernian at Easter Road, which ended in a 3-1 victory to Celtic tonight. The manager claimed that the game was “as good as we’ve played this year”, following some sensational stuff from Celtic in the first 45 minutes.

With Tony Ralston heading in the opener from a David Turnbull freekick, Cameron Carter-Vickers made it two from a corner to put Celtic in cruise control. This preceeded a period of dominance in the game which led to the third, breathtaking goal which was finished by Kyogo Furuhashi, but manufactured by Tom Rogic and Jota.

Sadly, Celtic’s play would begin to plateau somewhat when Tom Rogic was removed from the field with a hamstring complaint. Nir Bitton was welcomed onto the field of play and didn’t do too badly, but Celtic lost that fluency with the absence of the Aussie, Rogic. Hibernian pulled one back from a corner kick, with both Martin Boyle and Ryan Porteous claiming the goal – which actually appeared to be a handball offence.

The game remained at 3-1 to Celtic until the final whistle, with the Hoops never really out of control of the destination of the three points on this occasion. Postecoglou was more than pleased with the performance of his side and insists there is more to come as they progress together.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
