‘At no point did Morelos allege that any racial abuse was directed at him by Celtic supporters,’ Sky Sports

SKY SPORTS has tonight issued a full and unreserved apology to Celtic Football Club and the Celtic Support over the fake sub-titled Alfredo Morelos interview in which someone completely misrepresented the words spoken in Spanish by the Colombian striker in their distorted and agenda-driven subtitles.

And the Spanish based Celtic Supporters club who initially took the trouble to translate the Morelos interview properly and alert the support of the blatant inaccuracies, are also due an apology from Daily Record who tried today to claim credit for the fake news revelation.

Titled “Alfredo Morelos: Apology, correction and full transcript of Sky Sports News interview” the Sky Sports statement reads as follows…

“After numerous steps undertaken by Sky to verify the interview thoroughly we can be clear that at no point did Morelos allege that any racial abuse was directed at him by Celtic supporters in the interview. We apologise to the supporters of Celtic Football Club for this serious error.

“We are reviewing our procedures for translated interviews to ensure this does not occur in future.

They then provide the full transcript of the video published on Sky Sports with a new professionally verified translation. A full subtitled video, the broadcaster promises, will be published later.

Sky Sports, who are likely to face an Ofcom enquiry into their fake subtitle scandal have been rocked by hard hitting criticism from Celtic, who issued a statement last night and from Celtic Supporters calling their call centres to cancel subscriptions.

The matter as far as the Celtic Support is concerned is far from over. Who made these changes and why and are they going to be allowed to continue to work for the broadcaster? If so there will be thousands more cancelling.
