Belgium U21 boss Johan Walem hits out at Charly Musonda

THE BELGIUM Under 21 manager Johan Walem has hit out at Charly Musonda and has reveled that the door to his side has been closed and it was shut by the player himself.

From his own experience in dealing with Musonda, Walem is not surprised that things haven’t worked out for the Chelsea player at Celtic and he thinks he knows why.

“He went to Celtic and look what happened. It’s Celtic – I saw them in the Champions League,” Walem revealed.

“A player like Charly should always be in this team. But he has not played. So that leads me to believe there is a problem with him.

“He has got everything for the top level. He’s talented, bright, fast, he has great vision. But perhaps his problem is that he’s been told he’s too good far too often.

“For the under-21s, the door is closed for him and it was him who shut it. I selected him for the squad and he didn’t want to come, supposedly to concentrate on Chelsea.

“Yet I spent a full day with him in London and everything went well. I met with Antonio Conte and he told me he expected Charly to be in the first-team squad in the near future.

“Then he refused the call-up.”

Charly Musonda posted a message on his Instagram account which effectively said good-bye to Celtic. To be fair to him it was a decent enough sign off and you can read that HERE.
