AC MILAN have been sniffing around for Celtic’s Kris Ajer but they could turn their attention elsewhere to Schalke’s Matija Nastasic. Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has revealed that the Serie A side are closing in on a deal to bring the Serbian defender – which means that Ajer is likely to stay at the 10IAR chasers.
AC Milan’s negotiations with Schalke for centre-back Matija Nastasic have been progressing well today, according to @SkySport.
They are hopeful of finding an agreement on the structure of a potential deal.
Milan would prefer a loan-to-buy transfer.

Milan’s Technical Director confirmed that Ajer was a name that the club were looking at but was not an immediate target, as reported by Sempre Milan. However, it looks as if Celtic will be able to retain one of their best prospects.
Ajer joined Celtic from IK Start in 2016 for £500,000 as a midfielder; however, Brendan Rodgers retrained the youngster as a central defender. The Norwegian became a first team regular striking up a partnership with Dedryck Boyata and impressing in the centre of defence.
Ajer had struck up a formidable partnership with Christopher Jullien at the heart of the Celtic defence before Neil Lennon opted for a 3-5-2 in the second half of the season. The Norwegian made 49 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish Champions last year and had continued this season being a mainstay in Lennon’s teams.
