Brendan Rodgers looks set to start a bidding war for Celtic’s star striker Odsonne Edouard, according to a report from The Daily Mail. The Frenchman has just over a year remaining on his deal and it is believed that he will attract interest from former Celtic manager Rodgers as well as AS Roma.
The player has been quieter this season, despite topping the league goalscoring charts. Rodgers will know that he will be getting a top player having spent over 18 months together at Celtic. With 11 goals in 23 games, Edouard has started to show his class again, which will please Celtic as they look to achieve a record £30m fee for the former PSG kid.
After last season’s scintillating form, Edouard has been linked with a multi-million move from the club since the summer. However, now we have been given the clearest indication that the 23-year-old is planning for his future by joining Stellar Sports.
There appears to be an air of inevitability that the player will leave the club, he will be looking to play in The Champions League and a move to Leicester would probably be ideal for the striker given Rodgers is there as well as the likelihood of them playing in The Champions League as well as competing in The Premier League.
Rodgers meanwhile is flying high with Leicester, two years after he left the club. Supporters are understanding, in part, why he decided to walk away as the footballing operations at the club were highlighted as being inadequate to support the modern game in Rodgers’ image.
