Brendan Rodgers wants John Kennedy to reject Tottenham move

Brendan Rodgers wants John Kennedy to remain at Celtic. The Irishman is nearing a sensational return to Paradise and wants Kennedy, who worked under Rodgers between 2016-2019, to form part of his backroom staff.

According to The Daily Mail’s Stephen McGowan, Rodgers has spoken to Kennedy and reiterated his importance to the club.

Kennedy is currently wanted by Tottenham Hotspur with the 39-year-old said to be keen on making the move to the Premier League after Ange Postecoglou. There is, however, a major obstacle in Kennedy’s path – namely the clause in Postecoglou’s contract barring him from poaching any staff from Celtic.

It remains to be seen whether Kennedy remains or whether Rodgers returns back to Chris Davies, who was his Assistant Manager at Celtic and Leicester City. The Welshman is a wanted man himself having been linked to management roles at Reading and Swansea City.

Former Head of Performance Glen Driscoll and analyst Jack Lyons are expected to return with Rodgers. The final touches are being put to the 50-year-old’s return to Celtic but barring any major hiccups, Brendan Rodgers will replace Ange Postecoglou.
