“Captain, leader, legend”: These Celtic fans hail Scott Brown as he battled through injury to demolish Hibs

It shouldn’t really come as news to anyone that Scott Brown is an absolutely phenomenal player and the heartbeat of the team, but it’s still nice to have it confirmed every now and then.

A lot of the talk before the Betfred Cup semi against Hibs was who would captain the team in Broony’s absence. Most news outlets were convinced that he was injured and would be forced to miss the game.

Lenny spoke before the game about Brown’s fitness and assured everyone he was playing because he had passed the fitness tests. That was proven by an incredible performance that included running the length of the pitch in the last minute to kill the game.

Even at the age of 34 he still looks indespensable when he’s in this kind of form. These fans took to Twitter to pay tribute to the captain after the game:

It’s pretty rare to see him score so it will be even sweeter for him to save his goals for a national semi final against his former club.

Hibs might have had some dangerous moments when they got the game back to 4-2, but Celtic always had this game under control. All eyes will be on tomorrow’s game to see who else makes the final, but recent history suggests it doesn’t really matter….
