Celtic agree £2.6m deal to sign Odin Thiago Holm from Vålerenga

Celtic this morning reached an agreement with Norwegian side Vålerenga to sign 20 year old midfielder Odin Thiago Holm, the Norwegian outlet TV.no reports. The player has still to ungo a medical and to agree personal terms with Celtic but the report states that this is not expected to be a problem. There will however by a slight delay in this deal going through as the player is currently on holiday!

Celtic have agreed to pay NOK 35 million (around £2.6m) for Odin Thiago Holm with Vålerenga also securing a 15% sell-on clause for a player who had previously been linked with a move to Liverpool. This sell-on clause ‘could potentially secure Vålerenga large sums,’ TV 2 states.

V 2 is informed that Vålerenga and Celtic have in practice agreed on a transfer for the 20-year-old but neither sporting director Joacim Jonsson nor agent Tore Pedersen want to comment on the matter, at this stage as they await the formalities happening at the Celtic end of the deal when the player returns from his holiday.

The report continues as follows: ‘Vålerenga is left with all the money themselves. Thiago Holm was brought in from Ranheim for NOK 60,000 in 2019, but the 1st division club has no claim on resale percentages – only solidarity funds, TV 2 is told.

‘Even if the clubs agree in practice, some details remain before the transfer is finalised. Among other things, Odin Thiago Holm must go through a medical check. The VIF player is now on holiday, and this check will probably be done a few days in advance.

In addition, the midfielder must agree with Celtic on his personal terms. However, no problems are expected. Everything therefore suggests that Odin Thiago Holm has played his last match in a Vålerenga kit.’
