Celtic arrive in Dubai – First Pictures, Jozo’s back, a rare Shved sighting and Scotty Sinclair’s there

CELTIC have arrived in Dubai and the club have just released the first pictures of the players undergoing their first training session of the new decade.

“The Bhoys kicked off their mid-season training camp with a session at the team hotel this afternoon, ahead of work starting tomorrow at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex,” Celtic just tweeted.

This time last year Celtic had Oli Burke in the squad as a new arrival alongside Bayo while Timothy Weah was making his way to Dubai after completing his extension to his deal at PSG before finalising his loan to Celtic. This year it’s a case of All Quiet on the Western Front in terms of the Wanyama Window but there’s still time.

There’s a few talking points from these photos. Jozo Simunovic appears to be back in training, Marian Vasylyovych Shved actually exists – with all the recent festivities some of us were beginning to wonder about that one and it’s nice to see Scotty Sinclair out there, although it’s entirely possible that he’ll be on the move before Big Victor arrives, no doubt in the closing hours of the window.

This morning we reported on what Davie Provan has had to say about Celtic’s requirements from this transfer window and somewhat unusually we tended to agree with every word of our former number 7. Peter Lawwell really does need to step up to the plate in this window and sign ‘oven ready’ players, not projects. ‘The Bank of Celtic,’ the multi-millions that ‘keep the boardroom lights on’ and Peter Lawwell spitting out his cornflakes…see HERE.

And that little hint of politics brings us back to the fact that Celtic have touched down in Dubai despite the escalating tensions in the region.

And the Celtic Assistant manager John Kennedy has told Sky Sports that midfielder Ryan Christie will only miss “a matter of weeks” after undergoing groin surgery.

And Kennedy confirmed that he expects Jack Hendry to leave the club in this window although could not confirm that he’d be going to Hearts on loan.

Meanwhile Celtic Supporters in the United Arab Emirates will have an opportunity to meet Neil Lennon and some of his stars as they are guests of the Dubai Hoops CSC who are holding a meet and greet event tomorrow evening at 6pm local time.

Captain Scott Brown will accompany the manager and both Callum McGregor and Jeremie Frimpong will the there too.
