Celtic close in on Benkovic deal to add to move for Mulumbu

CELTIC are close to bringing Leicester City’s Croatian defender Filip Benkovic to Parkhead for a season long loan.

The 21 year old Croatian arrived at Leicester City in the summer in a £13million deal as an expected replacement for England star Harry Maguire who was linked with a move to Manchester United. Imagine the idea of bringing in the replacement before you sell your biggest asset – shocking!

Benkovic made his debut for Leicester City earlier this week in the League Cup win over Fleetwood but he could now be deemed surplus to requirements for Claude Puel for this campaign at least.

The Leicester City boss, speaking this afternoon to the BBC opened the door for the loan move to Celtic.

“What I can say about Filip is, we will see if he has a possibility to go out on loan, but, I’m happy to have this player because he’s talented. We want to continue to develop him, but we have a lot of centre backs.”

This would open the door for Dedryck Boyata to get his move and his destination could be either Spain or Turkey.

Le Havre’s Harold Moukoudi seems to be heading to Villa Park rather than the East End of Glasgow as manager Steve Bruce continues to follow some Celtic supporters on Twitter to find out where he can find decent players that he can steal from us.

Villa are able to afford the transfer fees as they now spend nothing on scouting.

The Brazilian midfielder from Manchester City is now a no go. City aren’t interested in sending him up here as we have no Champions League football. The Europa League is not taken too seriously in English football. Same thing happened when we tried to get Jason Denayer back in Ronny Deila’s last season. That loan deal was good to go, provided we got past Malmo.

Aberdeen can expect another phone call about Scott McKenna before the window slams shut but the Dons have advised Celtic that they won’t accept another reversed charges call from ‘Big Pedro’.

Youssouf Mulumbu is a definite but we told you that round about 40 minutes before one of the red-tops claimed it as their EXCLUSIVE. The former Killie and West Brom midfielder will be signing a two year deal, so will be here for 9 in a row.

Have you signed up for The Celtic Noise yet?  Rome wasn’t built in a day but things are getting going and it will be the place to be for readers of The Celtic Star, The Celtic Blog, Video Celts etc to have their say.
