Celtic confirm Funeral Mass for Lisbon Lion John Clark

The Celtic Community were saddened by the passing of club legend John Clark last week. The 84-year-old’s passing was confirmed last Monday as the Scottish Champions lost one of their finest sons.

The Club announced the funeral mass for club legend John Clark, a cherished Lisbon Lion and long-serving member whose connection with the club spanned an incredible seven decades. The special service is scheduled to take place this coming Friday.

Clark’s funeral will be held with mass at St Mary’s Church in the Calton at 12noon, with supporters asked to be mindful that space at the church is limited.

Celtic will broadcast the Funeral Mass live on the club’s official YouTube channel, giving supporters everywhere the opportunity to watch the emotional proceedings.

The Club have confirmed that Mr Celtic’s funeral cortege will travel down The Celtic Way at approximately 1.15pm.

Clark was an integral part of Jock Stein’s side, winning the European Cup in 1967, the defender would go on to win 12 major honours including four league titles, three Scottish Cups and, of course, that European Cup. Clark would make 316 appearances for the club.

Clark would return to the club as Assistant to Cesar before returning to the club in 1997, as kit man. The role spanned from Wim Jansen to Ronny Deila with John a regular feature at Paradise up until his passing.

Requiescat in pace, John.
