Celtic cult hero Efe Ambrose joins Queen of the South

Former Celtic defender Efe Ambrose has signed for Queen of the South. Having spent time on trial with Cove Rangers, Ambrose has opted to join the Palmerston Park club.

The Nigerian central defender worked with Marvin Bartley at Livingston and will likely be using the new role to revisit his transition into coaching.

Ambrose spent five years at Celtic, working under Neil Lennon, Ronny Deila and Brendan Rodgers. The versatile central defender will be able to impart his vast knowledge of the game to youngsters while continuing to ply his trade.

At 34, Ambrose has a lot of playing left in him but he has already begun a gradual transition into life after football by coaching and helping young players come through at Livi. Ambrose left Celtic with 4 Premierships and 1 of each the League Cup and Scottish Cup.
