Celtic duo included in SPFL Team of the Season

Celtic duo David Turnbull and Odsonne Edouard have been included in the SPFL Team of the Season. Despite Celtic finishing second and enduring an extremely disappointing season, Edouard and Turnbull provided some moments of class and have been rewarded by the league.

Turnbull bagged the PFA Scotland Young POTY as well as the Celtic POTY and YPOTY gongs. He scored ten and assisted eight this year as he went from a bit-part player to a regular feature on the team sheet for the club. Turnbull will be hoping that he can push on with Ange Postecoglou arriving in the summer.

Edouard meanwhile set to depart the club for around £18m with Leicester City eyeing a deal to reunite him with ex-Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers. Despite a quiet season by his standards, Edouard scored 22 goals and bagged 6 assists over the course of the season.

A few players included in the TOTS have attracted interest from Celtic – Josh Doig, Martin Boyle and Jason Kerr. It remains to be seen whether these are just social media rumours or whether the club are plotting moves for these players.

Postecoglou’s first job needs to be ensuring that the replacements that are lined up are good enough and capable enough to play in his system. He must have autonomy over who comes in while there is no DOF. He must also be given the money to spend from sales of Ajer, Edouard and likely Christie too. If he does, hopefully we will see more Celtic players in next year’s Team of the Season as Celtic reclaim their title.
