Celtic fans in conversation discussing the Celtic AGM

Celtic fans in conversation discussing the events at yesterday’s Celtic AGM. Pretty much the kind of conversations that will be happening on supporters buses making their way to Hampden on Saturday, or fans gathering in the pub for a pre-match pint. This is a snap-shot of all that and gives a decent insight into the way that the Celtic Supporters are feeling about the way our club is being run and some of the issues that were raised yesterday.

One other thought, what were both Ange Postecoglou and Fran Alonso thinking as they sat there listening to all of that. Fran was at the club last season so might have had some idea but for Ange it must have been a real eye opener.  Here’s how the conversation went…

Communication between fans is bad. Communication from shareholders is bad. Communication from board is woeful…communication between the three is woeful. And despite a year full of angry fans it would seem no-one wants to address the communication issues.

I bet they all get. voted back on. And another year of moaning about stuff that never gets  properly addressed from the board or properly communicated . Just waffle around everything that fans feel isn’t being addressed followed by board member re-elected and then silence about everything.

No real agenda laid out by fans groups. no real agenda, rebuttals with actual communications…just repeat . No doubt the people wanting res 12 haven’t even raised their points in any meaningful way (Auldheid stayed away). I did notice that Bankier on Celtic TV claiming Ange was signed by Peter Lawwell and i bet no-one asked why that was the case?

The three dudes being interviewed on Celtic TV – Bankier, Nicholson and some other dude. I’ve never even heard of the finance officer and couldnt have guessed who Nicholson was. So two faces who been on board for years and most important 2 of 3 dudes on board are just clandestine at best, speaks volumes imo. Two most powerful guys on Celtic Board are shadow men and nobody answers a straight question ever…Tarzan Trump – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

No mention from the directors or the floor about Dom McKay’s disappearing act. Hoopy427 – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

Ian Bankier, the incompetent embarrassment. POD – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

What was galling was he refused to discuss Bernard Higgins at all. Shareholders and supporters in attendance and the chairman refuses to discuss a live issue. So out touch. Smelltheg-love – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

Appears to me there’s been a mish mash of disgraceful behaviour, dismissing our genuine fears and concerns caused by Bankier, Nicholson and the rest of our board.

Why did no-one nor shareholder get the very first question out….which should have been:

“Does the room not agree, the people that really matter are the fans who are the beating heart of OUR club where 90% of them have no faith in our board. The disquiet created in recent months attest to this. Our agenda today must include that we must have a maximum term of those standing in office of no more than 4 years and unavailable for re-selection the following year.

Can we call a poll on re-selection names for the next term of sitting. Automatic re-selection (by proxy) is harmful and sets a dangerous precedent, where ‘the enemy within’ potential, is somewhat negated to a huge degree. Our board must be accountable to those vast numbers that demand change and is the way ahead regarding fairness and balance, irrespective of shares held.”

After all “a club only survives by the opinions of its many voices, its support and on the backs that carry it forward.” …..Brian Clough…Nottingham Forrest ….November 1978. the great jc – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

Make no mistake its Dermot Desmond who runs Celtic or should I say is the dictator of Celtic . Today when the majority of small shareholders voted to get rid of Bankier and Wilson as did the majority of supporters, Desmond stepped in with his block of shares to keep these two snakes on the board. They have no credibility with supporters and they should step down after that slap in the face they received at today’s meeting. Derry Bhoy – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

So what’s the point of having a vote if Dermot Desmond already knows what the result is going to be, just an insult to everyone wasting there time casting a vote in the first place. John no – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

I understand completely where you are coming from, John no. But we have to continue to highlight our unhappiness and anger. Unfortunately, the block votes will carry the day. But in doing so, publicly highlights the “undemocratic’ nature of our club and the out of touch chasm between our directors and supporters.

It is not good PR for a Board and especially not for Dermot Desmond. He hates being portrayed in any negative light.  Keep the pressure on as much as possible. They have been given too easy a ride, for far too long now. Organisations need to be held to scrutiny even in very successful times. This makes them wary.

I think eventually cracks will appear in the unity of this board. They know there are many unanswered questions, on many issues. They are hoping those seeking answers will run out of steam, go away or can be isolated as malcontents. Today will have rattled them and made them feel uncomfortable. More of the same is needed at every opportunity.

They must be shown clearly that they are privileged custodians, not owners of Celtic. POD – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

Is this comment from Bankier supposed to impress the Celtic support? It should have been done years ago or maybe he thinks Walsh is the first brother to show favouritism for anyone who plays against Celtic? green sprig – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

If anyone is ever under the illusion that votes from the floor will ever win at AGMs are kidding themselves , the support who purchased shares emotionaly by some accounts are bit part players to make up the numbers, given a share certificate to give them that we warm fuzzy feeling that their vote matters …it never did.

And no matter how The Celtic Trust try to sell it any percentage they get favoured to them won’t matter a jot, will never force change and will never win the day.

The clubs run for investors like Dermot Desmond , Lindsell Train Global Equity and other leeches , we are a docket on their portfolio, and all that matters is the bottom line and that the share value hasn’t dropped.
The quicker the entitled in our support and the folk wanting change realise…AGMs are only a day out!

You only get change by doing two things – 1. withholding season ticket money and 2. negative publicity, which two of the largest block shareholders hate. And it’s the two things our support haven’t got the bottle to do. kelly – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

I’m convinced The Celtic Trust is set up to fail.  Its constitution, its contradictions. I  wouldn’t be surprised if they work for this board because they don’t address the real issues or even attempt to communicate just like the current board.

A red herring. Even dudes running with res 12 just back down at every AGM despite it never being properly explained by board. If shareholders have no voice against tyranny of one man then club needs reformed

And ive always been dead against it but it may take refusal to buy tickets merchandise to get shot of these silent pretend fans who get paid millions to represent all things Celtic football club. Tarzan Trump – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

The Celtic Trust,  I said from the start i don’t trust them nor did I need someone to be a voice for me and going on how they ignored a vote from there own members, that says a lot about them. But you have to wonder why the next largest shareholders from Lindsell Train downwards also voted against Res 12 . Where they shown the evidence? Do they care? Seems they don’t.

Bankiers statement of making many complaints regarding the MIB speaks volumes. They had many complaints and every one of them ignored. Again, on the Scottish Government covid malarky…they bottled it. That sums up the people running Celtifc Football Club. kelly – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

READ THIS FROM THE CELTIC STAR…Bankier was Correct – Read the Response we got from Scottish Government

This is where Bankier gets it right but I still don’t see any action being taken against this government or the SFA who should obviously be held in contempt for not challenging theRangers on their covid faults, they allowed them to deal in house with players who blatantly broke Government rules on covid..The next time I get done for parking in the wrong place I will tell the warden not to bother with the  ticket ,it will be dealt with internally as soon as I get home. green sprig – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

Things will never change, Celtic are a well run, self financing football club, the fans only hold a very small amount of shares, not enough to force change, the “real” money men, those in charge are happy to maintain the status quo, mainly because their assets increase in value, and they don’t have to put their hands in their pockets. These are the questions Bankier should be able to answer…Truthfully. green sprig – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

I think people need to realise the Res 12 is a waste of time bringing it up all the time just to get shot down, it’s a pointless fight I’m afraid, just getting people riled up for nothing. We won’t ever get a satisfactory outcome to that, move on. Cairnsbhoy79 – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

You let it go then you can’t complain if the double standards, honest mistakes and FFP issue continue. If anything we should be getting louder. Smelltheg-love – Well-known member on Celtic Noise.

Massive own goal by the punter who described the Celtic Trust as likely to be board puppets, could not have been at yesterday’s AGM or used board quality industrial ear plugs when the brilliant speaker who addressed the meeting with one of the best speeches I.ve heard , would’ve put the world’s spin doctors to shame , absolutely inspired delivery HH
