Celtic in for Strikers, could it be Johnny Russell?

Celtic could be in for a striker or two come January as Odsonne Edouard remains the only fit striker at the club. With Bayo and Griffiths on the sidelines, could Johnny Russell be the man to answer Celtic’s striking shortage?

As reported in The Sun, when asked if the manager would make any ventures into the transfer market, he was coy.

“Possibly. Bayo took a knock yesterday so he is a major doubt for tomorrow.

“So we are a little bit short there with only one at the minute Edouard, who is fully fit.

“Bayo is going for a scan today and we are hoping he should be okay for the weekend.”

Could Johnny Russell be the man to bolster Celtic’s attack?

The ex-Dundee United man stated his desire to play for Celtic earlier this month and as his deal with Sporting Kansas has just twelve months remaining, would it be worth a punt on the 29-year-old?

“Throughout my career I always hoped it would happen.

“It hasn’t happened yet, hopefully it does at some point. I grew up dreaming of that.

“I’m happy where I am, but I’m a Celtic fan. The season I went to Derby there was a bid made but Derby offered more, so there was never a choice.”
