Celtic injury blow as Cameron Carter-Vickers out of Glasgow Derby

Cameron Carter-Vickers will miss tomorrow’s Glasgow Derby with a hamstring injury. Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the central defender would miss the game at Celtic Park after the American Internationalist pulled up with a hamstring injury on Boxing Day.

Speaking at the media conference ahead of the game, the Celtic manager said that the defender would not feature in the game against Rangers nor the clash against St Mirren on January 2nd.

The Scottish Champions face Rangers in the second meeting between the teams this season and it means that Celtic will need to beat the Ibrox club without CCV again. Helpfully, Rodgers will have Liel Abada and Reo Hatate at his disposal but they will more that likely begin from the bench.

Now, Rodgers will need to rely on his squad with Stephen Welsh likely to be the player that comes into the defence. However, questions will be raised as to why Maik Nawrocki or Gustaf Lagerbielke are not included in the conversation about joining Liam Scales in the defence.
