Celtic legend set to face Chelsea legend in English League Cup

Celtic legend Scott Brown will face up against Chelsea legend Frank Lampard in the English League Cup. The two midfield generals-turned-managers will face off with their respective clubs, Fleetwood Town and Everton on either August 23rd or August 24th at the home of the EFL League One side.

The two midfield legends will face up in the Carabao Cup Second Round with a view to Scott Brown taking a major scalp.

Lampard is in his third job as a manager since hanging up his boots whilst Broony is in his first, just a few weeks in the door.

Brown rejected the chance to remain at Celtic in order to take up a player-coach role under his pal, Stephen Glass. However, following the sacking of Glass and subsequent replacement Jim Goodwin informing Brown that his coaching opportunities would be limited, he made the decision to walk away from the North East. You would imagine that he is seeking to put his coaching badges to good use and build up experience with a long-term view to seal the Celtic job one day.

The midfielder bowed out at Celtic after 620 appearances, 46 goals and 22 trophies in the Green and White. The opportunity to make it as a coach will motivate Brown, a serial winner, to keep going ahead of his start in football.
