Celtic likely to miss out on goalkeeping target this summer as he’s offered a move back to his homeland

It’s easy to link Celtic with any decent goalkeeper in Scotland just now, but the rumours about Ofir Marciano have been getting louder since it became clear that he would be leaving Hibs this summer.

He’s been impressive in the Premiership and for Israel so he could be a safe pair of hands, but he would more likely fit the profile of a solid back up and the club already have two of those in Bain and Hazard.

Perhaps his arrival could make sense if two players were coming in to fight for the shirt, but a report from HITC basically puts this one to bed.

It’s suggested that he’s already held talks about moving back to Israel with Hapoel Be’er Sheva, with the Israeli side keen for him to reject Celtic and return home.

Crucially it’s really not that clear if there’s a solid offer on the table from Celtic so he might not have anything to turn down, where it’s more likely that he’ll be monitored as an option if other targets fall through and Barkas moves on.

It’s also thought that his agent was particularly close to Neil Lennon so his departure will also hurt the chances of anything happening here, so it looks safe to assume that Marciano isn’t a viable target going into the summer.

  1. Never was prouder of the famous Glasgow Celtic than when we stood with Palestine , why have normal sports contact with abnormal apaarthied states ? If we never signed another zionist settler again , it would be too soon for me , anyway he isn’t much an improvment on Bain
