Celtic make approach for £6m-rated attacker

Celtic have made an approach for Santos Ferreira from Gremio. The Scottish Champions have contacted the Brazilian outfit in an attempt to ascertain the asking price for the attacker but the club believe that the player is keen on a move to Scotland.

According to Football Scotland, the left-sided winger is attracting interest from Celtic as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.

Burnley and MLS sides are keen on Ferreira so Celtic will need to move quickly to seal his signature. The opportunity to sign for Celtic, given the carrot of Champions League football as well as the stage to move to a Top Five League.

In 125 appearances, Ferreira has scored 22 goals and assisted 20 times for Gremio. Whilst he is able to play through the middle, the attacker is more of a left-sided forward. Moi Elyounoussi and Tete have been linked but it is said that Celtic were tracking Ferreira in the summer of 2021, before Ange took over.

Celtic have Daizen Maeda and Sead Haksabanovic, who would naturally play off the left with Marco Tilio, Liel Abada and James Forrest on the right. Thereafter, Mikey Johnston, Rocco Vata and Ben Summers will all be keen to make a breakthrough under Rodgers.
