The transfer window opens today. If we lose Oh, as seems likely, then we need to go all out for Miovski. And a point worth making is that Celtic should have three strikers in our squad…
It looks like we could be losing the services of Hyeongyu Oh very soon with Belgian side KRC Gent reportedly extremely keen on signing the South Korean international as soon as the transfer window opens and that’s today folks!
It looks like any transfer will be a permanent one, with the more sensible loan option not even a consideration. Celtic though will have add-ons including a sell-on clause in the deal for the Korean striker.
The fee is believed to be around £4.2 million which will net a decent profit on the £2.5 million the club paid for the forward back in January 2023 in what turned out to be the last transfer window under Ange Postecoglou.
Not a considerable sum, but still a profit of £1.7m with perhaps more to follow for our third choice striker these past four months. All that money and perhaps a little on top will without doubt will have to go towards a replacement for the South Korean.
With Adam Idah now back at Norwich it would leave Kyogo as the only experienced forward in our squad. So it’s imperative that we sign a striker to replace Oh if he does indeed move on.

It was a game that desperately needed a goal but finally we have one!

Everyone’s preferred choice is Adam Idah and understandably so, but with his future at Norwich still to be decided we can’t wait around to find out and we really do need to have three strikers at the club.
The man for me is Bojan Miovski. The Aberdeen striker would cost somewhere in the region or £5-£6 million and that would represent great value as you know what you’re going to get with the North Macedonian internationalist.
He’s good in the air, with the ball at his feet and more importantly he can score goals. He also knows what our game is all about so it’s a no brainer.
If Oh does indeed leave then it’s time to act quickly to replace him, and who better than Miovski?
Having Kyogo, Miovski and Idah at the club next season is a problem every Celtic supporter would welcome. Back in the 1980s we had McGarvey, McCluskey and Nicholas and under Martin O’Neill two decades ago we had Larsson, Sutton and Hartson.
Just an Ordinary Bhoy
This is reality and not Football Manager on the computer. We are not Man City so there is NO WAY we will have Kyogo, Idah and Miovski. NONE will want to be the third player who sometimes plays but mostly does not.
The 3rd player if there is one will not be a high profile signing.
The 3rd striker most likely will be one we have Maeda… I would expect another high profile wide man before a striker if Idah is brought in.
If Kyogo is sold then maybe Miovski
A 3rd striker doesn’t and won’t fit into how Rodgers will be looking to build the squad imo?
At this stage within the planning for the season ahead, then building the squad will center around who actually fits into the 25man CL squad?
It wasn’t done properly last season and hasn’t been for many a season within European squads?
The theory remains the same, as getting the CL squad right, then nothing within Scottish football will stop ourselves?
Numerous reasons as to why it wasn’t done properly last season, and injuries certainly played it’s part also, and the transition of the change of manager between Ange and Rodgers not going as smoothly as expected?
But we are in a totally different position this season, with Rodgers knowing who already fits into his plans and who don’t within the current squad?
Selling OH only points to the 2 striker option along with Maeda as a 3rd option if required?
Yet vata would be a B list player if he stays, with the added bonus of being able to play through the center as well as out wide, so would be a great addition to have within the squad, especially when opportunities should be available for him within the SPFL next season also imo?
The balance wasn’t right either last season with Rodgers going for 6 wide players in the squad, to help accommodate the requirements of the 8 homegrown rule.
Don’t think that will be what Rodgers will be looking for this season within his planning, but certainly 5 will be required for the squad?
Yang was missing out on the SPFL match day squad at the end of last season, so would question as to whether a loan move might be in the reckoning for him, to allow available space within our wider areas?
Wouldn’t actually think miovski is to high up on our shopping list just yet, but can’t be totally ruled out just yet either imo?
Still not convinced that kyogo is a Rodgers type striker now, but would take a serious offer from someone to change our approach in the striker position also?
We have such decisions to be made throughout the whole squad from keepers to strikers and fitting in our 8 homegrown quota into a 25man squad.
To get the balance correct, that allows for game time and rotation to be applied better than last season?
So plenty of work is required for ourselves to potentially match the plans of Rodgers, with so many outgoings required, along with 7 incoming players by my reckoning, to get the overall squad to somewhere near to what Rodgers would like imo?
