Celtic news round up: Two departures confirmed, Lenny sounds confident that Eddy will stay and Alex Rae embarrasses himself again

Celtic’s focus just now still seems to revolve around keeping key players while also deciding who to let go, so departures from Celtic Park are still grabbing the headlines just now.

Jonny Hayes confirmed his departure on Instagram late last week, but it was also a surprise to hear that Jozo Simunovic would be leaving Celtic Park.

He was poor when he did get a chance and clearly he needed to improve, but it leaves Lenny short of centre back options with no new signings on the horizon just now.

Both players will be fondly remembered at Celtic Park, with Jozo Simunovic’s tackle on Kenny Miller and Jonny Hayes scoring at Ibrox being their most memorable moments.

A word too about Calvin Miller who also left Celtic over the past week after a decade at the club. He’s still only 22 and will go on to have a good career – he’s even hopeful of returning to Celtic one day!

A lot of the English papers are desperately trying to link Odsonne Edouard with a move to any Premier League club, but Neil Lennon seems confident of keeping him for the 10IAR campaign at least.

In terms of a potential incoming Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick has been linked with a move to Celtic Park in recent months, but it’s since emerged that AC Milan are interested in the Irishman, so that may spoil any chance of that happening.

With the recent departures it seems inevitable that stories will appear next week about potential arrivals, but in the meantime feel free to enjoy Alex Rae being taken to task as he continues to embarrass himself in an attempt to get some fans of the Rangers to like him.
