Celtic passed, now Jordan Larsson will join Schalke

Fabrizio Romano has this evening confirmed that Jordan Larsson has reached an agreement with Bundesliga side Schalke and will sign a contract tomorrow. The transfer expert journalist also reports that Schalke Sporting Director Rouven Schroder strongly wanted to win the race to sign free agent Larsson after he was released from his contract at Spartak Moscow by mutual agreement.

Numerous clubs were interested in signing Larsson, whose dad Henrik is a Celtic legend, but the club distanced themselves from any interest a few weeks ago. Perhaps it was the pressure that would have been on the son after his father’s successes at the club, perhaps it would have been a sideshow Ange Postecoglou could do without. There’s little doubt that Larsson is a quality player and hopefully he’ll be a huge success at Schalke.

Celtic’s Henrik Larsson with son Jordan celebrates winning the league championship after the Bank of Scotland Premier League match against Dunfirmline at Celtic Park, Glasgow.

But if his dream was to following in his father’s footsteps by starring in the Hoops sadly that’s not going to happen, for now anyway.
