Celtic set to be invited to join PSG in glamour friendly tournament

In some ways the season ending early could be a good thing for Celtic, as it finally gives the players an extended break.

Usually they have international games or tournaments that extend the season followed by a very early trip to somewhere in Eastern Europe to start the Champions League qualifiers, so burnout will happen eventually.

That shouldn’t be the case this year, but it will be important to get some friendlies in to build up fitness and match sharpness.

It doesn’t sound like the details have been finalised for this yet, but Glasgow Live have reported that Celtic could be invited to France to join PSG in a glamour friendly tournament.

It sounds like the idea of this is to get some teams from leagues where the season had to end early, so teams from Belgium and Holland could also be in attendance.

It’s even suggested that the Rangers might be invited too, although the teams haven’t been sorted out.

One of the main problems with friendlies is that you don’t want teams travelling around to various countries, so this will feature eight teams playing at a central base instead.

As long as measures are taken to prevent any further spread of the coronavirus, then this could give Celtic some tough opposition and would be ideal preparation for the new season.
