Celtic star set to return versus Hearts, defensive trio back soon

Ange Postecoglou has issued an injury update on four key first team players as he looks to welcome back some bodies ahead of a busy run of fixtures in December. Nir Bitton, Tom Rogic, Greg Taylor and Carl Starfelt will all be looking to make a return in the coming weeks.

Speaking to Celtic TV, the Celtic manager issued an injury update on four first team stars as they look to return from spells on the sidelines.

Bitton was forced off in the late defeat to Leverkusen whilst Rogic has been out since his hamstring tweak in the win over Hibs last month. We will be bolstered by the return of Rogic for the game against Hearts, which may give the manager another selection headache. The Australian playmaker has played 22 times this year and seems to be enjoying his football again under his compatriot.

“Hopefully Nir Bitton should be available again and Tommy Rogic will definitely be available for Thursday, which is good.

“Carl Starfelt isn’t too far away, Greg Taylor isn’t too far away, so we are getting some troops back. We’re going to need them, it’s a heavy schedule and we don’t want our level of performance to drop.”

Starfelt and Taylor will be back to help offer depth to the backline. After nearly a year out, Christopher Jullien will also be back to provide an option to the backline, something that can only improve Celtic.

The left-back position, in particular, has been a problem position for Ange this season due to the shoulder injury to Taylor with Boli Bolingoli, Adam Montgomery and latterly Juranovic slotting in. However, the decision to offer Taylor a new deal suggests that the manager rates the Scotland Internationalist and sees him in his plans – this means that the Juranovic and Ralston conundrum at right-back will also need to be sorted.
