Josip Juranovic faces a period out of action after suffering an injury at Hampden last Sunday. The Croatian Internationalist was forced off and Celtic suffered as a result of losing one of their star players.
According to Football Scotland, the player now faces a few weeks on the sidelines meaning he is a doubt for the game against theRangers next Sunday. As Celtic look to seal the title in the coming weeks, this news is being used as a factor that pundits are pointing to suggesting Celtic are in for a rough few weeks.
Hysteria is a big part of the Scottish game and whilst losing Juranovic for any period of time would be unfortunate, it is not the fatal blow that some are suggesting. Creating a narrative that Celtic are toiling sells papers, heightens interest and creates discussion.
Anthony Ralston is however an able deputy and he will be tasked with filling in for his colleague until he is back to full fitness. Juranovic was a steal from Legia Warsaw in the summer and has really impressed with tidy defensive skills coupled with flair in attack.
Ralston will return to The Celtic side this weekend and presumably will terrify the home support if he ventures forward into their penalty area, the ghosts of December past still haunt the Highlanders with Ralston’s 97th minute winner the stuff of nightmares in that part of the country.
