Celtic to pay around £350k for promising young pair

Celtic sealed a bargain by signing Osaze Urhoghide from Sheffield Wednesday after the fee was revealed that the Parkhead side would pay to Urhoghide’s former employers. The versatile defender penned a four year deal with the Hoops, becoming Ange Postecoglou’s first signing. A Sheffield media outlet reporting that Celtic will get Urhoghide and Liam Shaw for around £350k.

According to The Star,  Celtic will pay under £200k for the 21-year-old that was highly rated at Hillsborough. Given the cross border compensation rules, Celtic will sign the youngster for a fraction of his worth. With 21 appearances already to his name, Celtic have not signed a first team ready player but someone that will be working towards becoming part of the team under Postecoglou’s guidance.

The report also states that the club will pay around £150k for Liam Shaw under the same rules. The 19-year-old has been training hard under Postecoglou but like Urhoghide, Celtic have managed to seal a bargain for the versatile defender. Shaw was the subject of interest from around England but opted to continue his development in Glasgow.

  1. They could potentially be bargains, but why are we losing or own young players to German and epl teams, their needs to be massive changes with our youth system to stop us stupidly buying back players we already had.
