Celtic to re-open contract talks with Scott Brown amidst Aberdeen interest

Celtic are set to re-open contract talks with Scott Brown amidst reported interest from Aberdeen. The 35-year-old’s deal with the Quadruple Treble winners is up in the summer and a report claimed that Stephen Glass, the frontrunner for the Aberdeen job, was interested in bringing him to Pittodrie as a player/assistant.

The Sun is reporting that the club have offered Brown a year extension to remain at Parkhead as the club look to regain the Premiership title. The club want the player to commit for another year but he is considering his future as the club wait on a new manager being appointed.

Brown is one of Celtic’s most decorated player, became an Invincible Treble winner as well as racking up the most European appearances for a Celtic player. Brown is expected to make the transition into management and you cannot rule out seeing him in the Paradise dugout at some point, although it would be a shame to see the player leave after this season.

Brown worked with the Celtic U20s in the 2015-16 season but decided to step back from coaching in order to focus on playing. Since that time, Celtic won 12 trophies in a row vindicating his decision to step back.
