Celtic told they will need to pay £9m to sign striker this Summer

Although we’ve seen that Celtic are willing to pay some big transfer fees for the right player, it does seem unlikely this Summer.

The only way you can see Celtic paying big money for a striker would be as a direct replacement for Odsonne Edouard, but it’s hard to see anyone coming in and being better than Eddy, so the fans will be hoping nothing drastically changes this Summer.

That’s not stopped the rumours linking a new striker to the club, but a report from HITC does seem to squash the possibility of Trabzonspor striker Caleb Ekuban moving to Parkhead.

They quote the Trabzonspor President in saying that he will not accept anything less than £9m for the striker who has played for Leeds in the past, but has caught the eye in Turkey.

The report also links him with the Rangers as a possible replacement for Alfredo Morelos, so it’s highly possible that the link with Celtic is just a lazy one.

It sounds like the player isn’t exactly pushing for a move either, with the report suggesting he’s purely focused on helping his team win the league for now.

A look at his past record isn’t exactly inspiring – the only time he reached double figures for league goals came in a spell with Albanian side Partizani, and he’s not been prolific in Turkey either.

He might have had an impressive season, but Celtic fans shouldn’t worry too much if they end up missing out on him this Summer.
