Celtic yet to make decision on Olivier Ntcham’s future

Celtic have not decided to release Olivier Ntcham, contrary to reports yesterday suggesting that the 25-year-old’s contract had been terminated. Sunday Mail journalist Scott McDermott confirmed that club had indicated that the midfielder hadn’t been released.

Ignazio Genuardi via Get Football News France claims that the club are considering agreeing to terminate the midfielder’s deal as he enters his final year.

The Frenchman joined from Manchester City for £4.5m in 2017. Ntcham flashed pieces of brilliance across a three and a half year spell before his loan move to Marseille in January. It was hoped that this would improve his game time which was limited under Neil Lennon in the first start of the season with the emergence of Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull into the Celtic midfield.

The midfielder signed for Brendan Rodgers from City and has made 137 appearances, scoring 23 goals in a trophy laden period for the club. The player looks set to have played his last game for the club whether it is as a result of agreeing a break ahead of the final year or if he is sold in the summer.

Ntcham was often a frustrating player for the club as he clearly possessed the talent but sometimes he was too inconsistent. Hopefully the club will wait until a new manager is appointed to determine the future for the Frenchman.
