Everton set to decide future of supposed Celtic target Josh King

Everton look set to decide the future of Celtic-linked striker Joshua King. The Norwegian striker’s short term deal ends in the summer and Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that he would be meeting early next week to determine whether he would be signing 29-year-old.

As reported by The Liverpool Echo, Ancelotti said that the meeting will look to determine the future of King and others.

“We have some positions to consider – Josh, Robin Olsen – and other players like Seamus who we would like to renew the contract.

“With Marcel Brand after the end of the season on Monday or Tuesday we are going to talk about all these kinds of situations.”

Ancelotti will be unlikely to make King’s deal in Merseyside permanent leaving Celtic free to sign the hitman as a potential replacement for Odsonne Edouard. Prospective Celtic manager Eddie Howe signed King when he was the Bournemouth manager in 2015. King played some of his best football under Howe and often credited his footballing ethos, scoring 53 goals and 19 assists in over 180 appearances for The Cherries.

With just eleven substitute appearances for Everton, totalling just 137 minutes, and no goals, Ancelotti and Everton may have already decided to pursue other striking options in the summer, leaving King free to be pursued by Celtic.

The 54-capped striker could be the perfect replacement for exit-bound Odsonne Edouard and if Eddie Howe is to become the Celtic boss, it would be a perfect reunion for the player and coach. King will know enough about given that two of his international teammates, Kris Ajer and Moi Elyounoussi are at Celtic.
