Alex Valle has been named in this week’s SPFL Team of the Week following an excellent display at Fir Park on Sunday…
Four consecutive starts for Valle
With the Spaniard now registering four consecutive starts in a row for the Hoops, he is now settled into life in Glasgow well having starred in tough competitive matches.
Coupled with Greg Taylor’s injury, and the 26 year-old’s uncertain future at Celtic Park, Valle has made that left-back position his own, and will be an important player for Brendan Rodgers heading into matches in three separate competitions over the next week.
The on-loan Barcelona man combined with his fellow full-back Alistair Johnston for Celtic’s second in North Lanarkshire on Sunday afternoon. Valle’s exquisite cross was met onto the head of the Canadian who bulleted home for his third league goal of the campaign. Two more than theRangers have scored away from home so far this season…
Brendan Rodgers’ defence and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel have taken a lot of praise, and quite rightfully so. Back-to-back clean sheets against Atalanta and then Motherwell take the tally of competitive shutouts to eight in 14 matches.
For his rewards in setting up a goal, and churning out another solid defensive performance, Valle has been named in the SPFL team of the week.
Meanwhile, Celtic’s left-back is joined by two other Scottish Premiership players Noah Chilvers [Ross County] and Shayden Morris [Aberdeen].
Star man in the lineup is Hamilton Accies Oli Shaw who netted a seven minute hat-trick against Dougie Imrie’s Greenock Morton in the Scottish Championship on Saturday.

Think valle is getting better with each passing game with ourselves?
Already a close call as to who should be regarded as our 1st choice LB between valle and Taylor?
Starting to think that valle might just have headed in front of Taylor now, due to having that little bit more about his all round game at present imo?
Still wouldn’t like to call what will be the longer term outcome regarding the LB position for ourselves?
But the more I’m seeing of valle, wouldn’t mind him being part of it?
