James Forrest’s jersey gift to Bertie’s family…

Celtic’s Hampden hero James Forrest has given his Celtic jersey from Sunday’s League Cup semi-final win over St Johnstone to Bertie Auld’s family.

The Celtic winger came on as a substitute and scored the only goal of the game to help the Hoops book their place in next month’s final against Hibernian.

And after a day of emotion at the National Stadium, with the Celtic players all wearing the No.10 on their shorts in memory of the Lisbon Lion following his sad passing, and the Celtic support paying their own tribute to a true legend of the Club, James Forrest wanted to make his own gesture to Bertie’s family.

James explained: “Bertie meant so much to the Club and our supporters, he was everything to his family and we know they are missing him so much.

“The boys were really honoured to wear Bertie’s number on Sunday and we were delighted to get the result on a really emotional day.

“For me to get the goal was special but the whole team did brilliant to get the victory. We know what a tough time it’s been for the family and we just wanted them to have something from the match and from the day that we remembered one of our greatest ever legends.”

These videos from The  Celtic Star show the two stunning tributes that The Celtic Support paid to Mr Celtic – the one and only Bertie Auld at the game on Saturday and it was only fitting that Hibs should pump theRangers in the other semi final the next day – it was over by half time with Bertie’s other Scottish club already 3-1 to the good (how he would have enjoyed that) – to set up the Bertie Auld Final on 19 December…

Well done Jamesy Forrest and isn’t it so good to have him back to full fitness and in the team scoring goals. He seemed to enjoy his role in The Celtic Christmas video too did he not? Sandman will no doubt have something to say about that on Thursday night…
