Celtic’s Ryan Christie and Jack Hendry start for Scotland

Celtic duo Ryan Christie and Jack Hendry have been given a start against Austria today in the FIFA World Cup qualifier at Hampden. Celtic’s Callum McGregor, a favourite of Steve Clarke, is on the bench.

Christie has, along with the rest of the team, had a poor campaign for Celtic but his goal helped give Scotland the lead over Serbia but he was subbed off after running himself into the ground meaning he had to watch on as David Marshall became the hero.

Hendry has returned to the national team after impressing with Belgian side Oostende. Hopefully he will be able to prove his worth to Celtic moving forward with a fine performance tonight.

In goals, former Celtic ‘keeper David Marshall starts.
In defence, Grant Hanley is joined by Hendry and former Celt Kieran Tierney in a back three. At right wingback, Motherwell’s Stephen O’Donnell starts whilst captain Andy Robertson plays at left wingback.

The midfield trio includes John McGinn, Scott McTominay, and Stuart Armstrong. In attack, Lyndon Dykes starts with Christie.

On the bench: Gordon, McLaughlin, Fleck, McGregor, Gallagher, McKenna, Fraser, Nisbet, Adams, McBurnie, Palmer, McLean.
