Celtic’s ‘Top Two’ dig at Third Rangers, David Potter’s Jingle Bells

HATS tipped to the Celtic social media team who put Steven Gerrard’s Rangers in their place this morning with this excellent tweet.

We’ve already outlined the fixtures earlier today – read HERE – but here is David Potter’s take on them after he’s had a few hours to consider the fixture list for the 8IAR campaign…

Jingle Bells

So, we’ve been had again! All the nods, winks, trouser legs, handshakes and flute playing have arranged it so that we are on the road at Christmas and New Year – to Aberdeen and Ibrox! Aye, aye we all knew that was going to happen! One way or another they’ll make sure we don’t do 8 in a Row!

No Merry Xmas or Happy New Year for us as we head to these places! But … wait a minute! There is something called TV, usually in the corner of the living room, or on the wall of the pub. Could that not help out? Come to think of it, very few of us get to go to the chilly North East at the best of times, and the other place doesn’t seem to want us at all! So, we can have a happy festive season after all. I’ve already got a picture of Yule logs on the coal fire, snow on the ground, mistletoe, holly, tables groaning with turkeys and alcohol, everyone warm, comfortable and happy as partners, wives, husbands, children and old folks all sit round the telly, replete with food and drink for a couple of real relaxing games of football. Oh, what a picture of domestic happiness, bliss and everyone feeling jolly. Begone Mr Scrooge, we’re enjoying ourselves!

But are they necessarily the most important games, the key points of the season?

We all have to play each other anyway, and whatever way the fixtures came out, someone would see conspiracy anyway. No, to me the game against Livingston on August 4 at Celtic Park is as interesting as any, and as vital.
