Celtic’s Treble winning captain Callum McGregor at 30 – There’s no-one better

Celtic captain Callum McGregor celebrates his 30th birthday today while training with the Scotland squad for the two Euro qualifiers, starting away to Norway on Saturday and then playing against Georgia at Hampden on Tuesday night.

Calmac has been speaking to the Scotland National Team media staff and reckons that celebrating his birthday while on international duty os nothing new really as on his last two birthdays he’s actually been playing for Scotland.

As Celtic captain he will of course be well briefed and up to-date with the latest developments hn the club’s hunt for a new manager after Ange Postecoglou left to take the Tottenham job. McGregor enjoyed an excellent working relationship with Postecoglou, who made him club captain and helped him lift five trophies as Celtic skipper including of course a Treble this season.

But Calmac also had an excellent working relationship with Brendan Rodgers who is on the verge od a sensational return to Celtic Park after having agreed an ambitious plan for that club that involves benchmarking success against European progress and not just being happy to get the chance to make up the numbers.

Ange Postecoglou was of course aiming to do exactly that but it looks like Brendan Rodgers will be the man tasked with delivering that as Celtic manager. And regardless of the change in the leader, Calmac will have the arm band and well ll be happy with that. As the song says, There’s No-one Better. Happy Birthday Callum!
