Concern for Celtic as loan rules could deprive them of key duo if league restarts

The knock-on effects from the Coronavirus could  sociehurtty for years to come, but the questions also keep coming from a sporting point of view.

All we know just now is that play is suspended, but nobody really knows if it will restart, what will happen to EURO 2020, if we should finish this season and delay next season, what will happen to the Scottish Cup and so much more.

A report from The Sunday Post has also raised the issue over loan signings, and this could be a big problem for Celtic when it comes to Fraser Forster and Mohamed Elyounoussi.

It sounds like their loan agreements only run until June, but this delay now means play will probably run into the Summer, so that means technically they will have to return to Southampton before the season finishes.

Even if Celtic could agree a deal to sign them on a permanent deal, it’s not clear what will happen with the transfer windows or if the players could be properly registered to play, so it’s all up in the air for now.

Elyounoussi in action

Realistically they should still be able to win the league without them due to the commanding position at the top, but Forster has been crucial at times this season so you would want to see him play in the Scottish Cup too.

It’s yet another question that nobody really knows the answer to right now.
