A look back in time on this day to 2017, sees Brendan Rodgers and his Celtic side humble Dundee at Dens Park. Donning their beautiful commemorative strip to the Lisbon Lions, the Bhoys cruised to a 4-0 victory in the City of Discovery.
Goals from Sinclair, McGregor, and a brace from James Forrest sealed the points on a September night. Scotty Sinclair would be first to draw blood from the Dark Blues, with a cool, calm and collected penalty.
James Forrest then followed this up with a sliding shot that flew past the Dens ‘keeper, following an excellent driving run and cutback from the impressive Kieran Tierney.
Next to get on the scoresheet would be Callum McGregor, with a fantastic low shot from an acute angle – giving the Celts an unassailable lead. This would then be rounded off with a beautiful goal from James Forrest. Some tidy passing and a slight skip to the side from Forrest, allowing him to fire another into the Dundee goal would cap a great away day.
If only we had Jamesy yesterday! Here’s the action and some extra photos from that night….
I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
