The return of Fraser Forster was always going to be an interesting one. He had completely fallen out of favour at Southampton so there were no guarantees that he would be a success the second time round.
If anything, he actually looks to be a better keeper than he was during his first spell. Craig Gordon and Scott Bain are good players, but Forster is just a class above. The importance of having a dominant keeper has shown during the Europa League campaign this year.
The most memorable moment was the late save at home to Lazio, but he made another incredible save against Rennes tonight as well.

Sometimes the appreciation for a player can go overboard, but his performances have rightfully earned the adulation of the Celtic support in recent weeks. Here’s a selection of the tributes paid to him on Twitter following his performance tonight:

The big thing for the club is getting him signed up on a permanent basis. He was third choice at Southampton so you would think he would be reluctant to go back there and face the same situation.
When you look at their situation it’s very possible that they will be a Championship team next season. It’s likely he will be on higher wages than Celtic can pay, but relegation could also see Southampton being put in a position where they need to cut the wage bill.
It certainly looks like the board should go all out to ensure he stays.
