‘Deal is done’ for Postecoglou says Australian journalist

Australian journalist Scott McIntyre has said that the deal to bring Ange Postecoglou to Celtic is ‘done’. The club and manager have agreed that the Yokohama F Marinos boss will take over in the summer after the club and Australian agreed to personal terms but there are some ‘loose ends’ that need tied up.

McIntyre issued an incredibly passionate defence of Celtic managerial target Ange Postecoglou, referring to him as “one of the top guys on the planet.” The 55-year-old Australian is the overwhelming favourite now to take over at Celtic Park and McIntyre appeared on SM Media to discuss the style and character of Ange and he admitted his shock that he wasn’t first choice ahead of ‘unknown’ Eddie Howe.

McIntyre said that the qualifications ‘issue’ is being resolved with The SFA asking UEFA to recognise the badges of Postecoglou. Although, the former A-League chief Archie Fraser insisted to The Record that Postecoglou obtained a UEFA Pro Licence back in 2009. Furthermore, there won’t be any issue with compensation with Yokohama accepting the desire of the man that lead them to the J-League to depart for Celtic.

McIntyre also dismissed that Postecoglou had been a product of the City Football Group and instead had been the result of a recommendation from an agent, which lead to Celtic keeping tabs on the coach.

It is an incredible listen as McIntyre calls him one of the ‘best five coaches in the world’. Hopefully the deal for Postecoglou will be announced soon so that the club can begin rebuilding ahead of the new season with pre-season just around the corner.
