Defensive target set for Celtic transfer this summer as report suggests he will be leaving

It’s going to be a complicated rebuilding job this summer, especially when the squad needs to some depth as well as quality starting players.

It’s likely that some signings will be made if they are touted as regular starters, but someone like Declan Gallagher could still be a good addition.

He’s an experienced Premiership player who’s also proven he can perform at a high level with Scotland, while he’ll have a feeling of unfinished business after leaving Celtic as a youth player so there should be an added desire to prove himself.

Obviously you wouldn’t want him to come in and start every game, but he can also fill in at right back and he’s reliable so he would add depth to the defence.

It also now appears to be inevitable that he leaves Motherwell this summer after a report from HITC which indicates there is no clause to extend his contract and that means a fee won’t be required either.

As a result Motherwell are now resigned to him leaving, but there will be plenty of interest in his signature.

Celtic are mentioned as the main suitor but Aberdeen are also mentioned so it could come down to how often he actually wants to play.

It will be a great story if he does return to Celtic and goes on to be a positive addition, and he’s a name to keep an eye on when the season ends to see where he goes.
