Defiant Jozo, Eddie’s Translator Talk, ‘Demoted’ Clue on The Gates

JOZO SIMUNOVIC posted a defiant message from his hospital bed promising that he’ll be back in action for Celtic as soon as possible. The Croatian defender went under the knife to sort a minor issue with his troublesome knee and is likely to be out of action for around 6 weeks.

Full of smiles, the 25 year old Croatian took to Instagram to show a photograph from his hospital bed with the defiant message ‘I’ll be back’ after he came out of surgery.

With Nir Bitton also out for around a month with the hamstring injury picked up at Ibrox on Beautiful Sunday, Neil Lennon will be relying on Christopher Jullien, Kris Ajer and Hatem Ebd Elhamed for the central defensive duties, obviously with Hatem principally a right back. However he’s already proved he’s more that capable of playing in the centre of the Celtic defence.

He’s likely to be at right back on Thursday against Rennes in the first group stages match in the Europa League with Jullien and Ajer in the centre and Bolingoli at left back.

Simunovic’s ongoing knee issues frustrated a proposed move to Italy back in 2016 and although he was linked with a move to Lille this summer, that was always going to be dependent on passing a medical. Celtic took a chance signing Jozo when they were aware of the concerns around his knee but reckoned that it was a gamble worth taking to get a strong, talented defender.

It’s hard to see Jozo getting a move anywhere else so is probably going to be a Celtic player for the best part of his career. If Celtic can get him sorted, that will be a decent outcome for us.

Meanwhile we reported earlier on Odsonne Edouard’s comments from earlier today when he rubbished the suggestion that he’s soon for the off from Celtic, but Celtic TV have now released on You Tube the video from the Media Conference with the striker from earlier today.

Odsonne isn’t ready to speak to the media in English so had a translator there to assist. The volume of questions asked by the hacks trying to get him to say he wants to leave Celtic, or go back to France so that he can break into the national side, is frankly astonishing.

Watch for yourself. Our earlier feature on Odsonne’s Media Conference can be read HERE.
