‘Emphatic’ Celtic get over ‘little dip’, ‘remarkable’ Edouard – Lenny

NEIL LENNON has lavished more praise on Celtic’s talismanic marksman, Odsonne Edouard. Fresh from yet another incredible international break with France’s U21 team, Edouard scored another two against Ross County in the 6-0 victory, much to his manager’s delight. Edouard’s double at the weekend meant that the Frenchman took home the Man of the Match accolade, against some stern competition as Celtic ran riot.

Speaking to the club website, (https://www.celticfc.net/news/16959) the Celtic boss said that Odsonne isn’t the type to get carried away but has been improving rapidly, which bodes well considering that Lazio will be visiting Glasgow’s East End on Thursday night.

“I don’t want to wax lyrical about him every week, although he’s not that type of kid to get carried away, but you can see he’s in a good place.

“He’s a beautiful mover of the ball and his link-up play is getting better. I’m so happy he got the goal just after half-time because he deserved it, because he had a couple of good opportunities in the first half.

“He’s always a threat. He complements the players that are around him, he’s become more and more reliable and the volume of goals is testament to his own improvement.”

Confidence is high at Celtic and Lennon also praised Mohamed Elyounoussi, Callum McGregor, Scott Brown and new signing Jeremie Frimpong for imposing themselves in the weekend’s win. The manager is glad that Celtic didn’t stay in the doldrums but instead responded to taking just one point from visits to Hibs and Livingston.

“So it augurs well going forward. We’ve had a little dip, if you want to call it that, over the past two away games, but they’ve come back and put in an emphatic performance, and it could have been a lot more than six, and that’s not being disrespectful to Ross County. Anyone who was at the game would have seen that.”

“Despite the dip, Celtic sit top of the Europa League group, top of the league and visiting Hampden at the start of next month for the Betfred Cup semi-final versus Hibs.”
