Europa League Completed Pots – teams we’d like Celtic to play and sides we’d like to avoid

CELTIC made it through rather more comfortably than we could have expected. particularly after the Cluj fiasco that ended our Champions League hopes. Talking of Cluj they are also in tomorrow’s draw – they are a Pot 4 side alongside Sunday’s opponents the Rangers who scored late on to beat Legia Warsaw.

That incidentally is not the worst result for us. They will have the same punishing schedule between now and the winter break, so there’s no advantage for them in having those six midweeks off while we are competing in the Europa League.

Here’s how the draw looks, courtesy of Moravcik67 who has listed the teams who have made it into the Europa League draw and what pot they’ll be in.

“Pots are now completed for the Europa League group stage draw, which is due to take place tomorrow at midday.

“Dudelange, Ferencvaros, Gent, Ludogorets, Frankfurt, the Rangers, Wolves and Vitoria de Guimaraes are the last teams to qualify. Here’s how the pots look….” Moravcik67 wrote on Twitter.

So looking at Pot 2, ideally would be good to avoid the English, especially Arsenal given their recent £25million signing, and perhaps also the Spanish. Porto would be good.

In Pot 3 perhaps Rennes is one to avoid, of the rest we could perhaps fancy another shot at Malmo, on another revenge mission.

Pot 4 obviously we cannot get the Rangers, ideally we get another shot at Cluj.

So best draw could be

Porto CELTIC Malmo and Cluj.

Hardest draw could be

Arsenal CELTIC Rennes Wolfsberger.

We’ll probably get none of these teams!
