Ex Celts Injury Prone Season – Tierney Close to Return, Weah’s Season is Over

Two players that left Celtic last summer are finding that the grass isn’t necessarily greener. Both Kieran Tierney and Timothy Weah were in the team that beat Aberdeen at Pittodrie to seal the league title for Celtic but have struggled this season.

Tierney left for Arsenal for £25m whilst Weah had his loan deal cut short by Neil Lennon prior to the Scottish Cup final.

This season, with their new teams, the pair have struggled with fitness. Tierney has played 11 games since returning from the groin injury that ended his season for Celtic after that win in Aberdeen whilst Weah has managed just three games since joining Lille from PSG.

Weah’s season is over due to a hamstring problem but Tierney is expected to be back training with Arsenal’s first team after recovering from a shoulder injury.

Arteta hopes to have Tierney available in the next few weeks as he attempts to push his side up the table.

It is sad that two very promising young players have been stricken with injuries and have had their season limit to such a small amount of games. Whilst sat on the sidelines, the pair would be forgiven for thinking to happier times playing while watching their former teammates on TV continuing their domination of Scottish football.

Football can be a cruel game and hopefully the pair are back to fitness soon for their clubs.
