Extended highlights as brave Celts beaten by Leverkusen

Celtic fell to a late killer blow from Bayer Leverkusen’s Robert Andrich and Moussa Diaby as the Bundesliga side broke the travelling supports’ hopes of a first win in Germany for the men in Hoops. Andrich scored after 16 mins and it threatened to be a case of the same old story for Celtic in Europe.

After Kyogo was punched by Hradecky in the box, the Greek referee consulted VAR and decided to point to the spot. The Croatian stepped up and placed a Panenka into the roof of the net, giving Ange Postecoglou’s side a deserved equaliser against the Bundesliga outfit.

Celtic made it 2-1 thanks to an incredible goal from Jota. Joe Hart collected a cross before kicking an inch-perfect pass into the path of James Forrest, the winger linked up with his midfield colleagues and Celtic moved forward with stunning speed. Leverkusen thought that Jeremie Frimpong would stand firm but the ex-Celtic full-back slipped at the crucial stage, allowing Kyogo to play the ball into the path of Jota, who sent a stunning effort beyond Hradecky.
